Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information FinderBuddy (“FinderBuddy”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. FinderBuddy is operated by Prashant Sharma and Deepam Mishra. It covers the FinderBuddy macOS app and the website at finderbuddy.net.

Your files

FinderBuddy is built around local processing. When you compress, convert, rename, merge, or otherwise work with files, all processing happens on your Mac. We never upload, collect, view, or store your files or their contents. Output files are saved on your Mac, next to the originals or in the folder you choose.

Information we collect

• Purchase information. When you buy FinderBuddy, our payment provider shares your name, email address, country, order ID, and the product and quantity you bought. We use this to issue and email your license key, provide support, handle refunds, and meet legal and tax obligations.
• License information. Your license key is linked to your order. When you activate or verify a license, the app may send the key and basic device information (such as a random device identifier and app version) so we can confirm the license is valid and enforce the number of Macs it covers.
• Support messages. If you email us, we keep your message and email address to help you.
• Website usage. Our website may collect basic, aggregated usage data, such as pages viewed and buttons clicked, to understand what works. It isn't used to build advertising profiles.

We don't require an account, and we don't collect your contacts, location, or files.

Payments

Orders are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments collects and processes your payment details, billing address, and tax information under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your full card number.

How we use your information

• To deliver your license key and download links
• To verify licenses and prevent misuse
• To answer support requests and process refunds
• To send important product emails, such as receipts and major updates to your purchase
• To comply with legal, accounting, and tax requirements

We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run FinderBuddy, and only as needed:

• Dodo Payments, for payments, invoicing, taxes, and refunds
• Our email provider, to send license keys and receipts
• Our hosting provider, to run the website and license service

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

Data retention

We keep purchase and license records for as long as your license is active and as required for tax and accounting purposes. Support emails are kept while they're useful for helping you. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to records we must keep by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, email support@finderbuddy.net from the address you used to purchase. We'll respond within 30 days.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Because your files stay on your Mac, they are never exposed to our servers in the first place.

Children

FinderBuddy is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and let you know by email if the changes are significant. See also our Terms of Service.
